Sealed by Stealth
For anyone who loves the outdoors, and gear that stands up to the elements Stealth seams should get you excited!
While high-performance fabric development has evolved tremendously over the years, increasing comfort and style, the way the garments are held together has stayed relatively the same.
Some outdoor pundits have called Stealth Seam Sealing the biggest leap in fabric technology since the invention of the sewing machine around 200 years ago, and we believe Stealth Seam Sealing technology is worth getting enthusiastic about.
Stitching is the biggest weakness in the durability of outdoor fabrics. Needles puncture laminates, compromising their ability to keep water out. The common solution to this problem has been to cover each seam with waterproof tape, effectively sealing the stitch holes, but this rarely ages well, reducing the lifespan of a product.
Stealth Seam Sealing replaces stitching with ultrasonic edge-joining combined with HF radio welding to bind fabrics together, avoiding the two biggest issues with traditional stitched and taped seams: it does not use glue, which is prone to delamination, and it does not apply high heat, which can damage lightweight fabrics.
Using this breakthrough technique seams that are tougher, warmer and entirely durable, resulting in longer-lasting products with greater protection from the harshest elements.
Testing has shown that Stealth welded seams have superior strength and durability. Pull testing results showed stitched seam samples have an average tear strength of 240.36N while Stealth welded samples returned a tear strength of 385.03N, making the welded seam 46% stronger than the stitched one, and half the thickness!
